Do you have any UFO’s?

My daughter came home yesterday with this new math they are starting.  She’s in 1st grade and already doing geometry math work.  The math is called Making Shapes and Designing Quilts; as I was reading this it suddenly struck me that I had some UFO’s that have been living in my closet for some time now.  For those non crafters UFO’s are unfinished objects.

Maybe I will get around to finishing this within the next year or so.  xo

DIY: Need a candy dish or favor?

Martha Stewart recently showed a creative way to display candies at your next shower, birthday party, or wedding.  Her little candy holder is not only creative, but economical.  Everyone has a piece a paper and I’m sure you have played fortune teller as a child.

Check out my own creations that were made from paper.

Cotton candy holders that I creative for my daughter’s carnival party

Favors given out at a bridal shower, they were filled with blooming tea balls from Teavana

Paper cake that I made for my grandmother’s 70th birthday party,
they were filled with mints

So next time you need a candy dish or favor try creating something out of paper….the possibilities are endless.  xo

Tuesday Theme: Damask

Damask by definition is a reversible figured fabric of silk, wool, linen, cotton, or synthetic fibers, with a pattern formed by weaving.  I just love seeing this print on wall papers and table linens.  Now a days you even see it incorporated into weddings.  Brides will use a damask stencil on their invitations and will follow the same pattern through all aspects of the wedding.  Try incorporating a damask print in your next craft project.  xo

Friday Finds

Happy Friday!  Ok next Friday October 28th is a big day for soon to be Boston brides. Anyone who is from the Bean I’m sure you have heard about Running of the Brides; a day where ladies come up like vultures and will attack if you try to touch one of their designer gowns.

Well the big event is next Friday at Filene’s Basement in Newton from 8-9A.  I suggest camping out because I’m sure ladies will be there as early as 5A to be the first in line.

If for some reason you can’t make it perhaps one of my handmade finds for the day would work just as well.  xo

Lil Prince Baby Shower

Just thought I share some pictures of a baby shower that I recently planned.
My cousin opted out of a cake, and instead wanted cupcakes.
So I created this cupcake tower.  She loved it.  It was exactly what she wanted.

I even made customized cupcake toppers.

My daughter helped me with the diaper cake centerpieces.

For the gift table centerpiece I wanted something different, so I made some flowers.
I bet you can’t tell that they are baby sock?  Yes baby sock roses.
The father-to-be did not believe they were really socks, so I had to take one apart just to ease his curiosity.  xo

High End Crochet!

Source
Recently came across this Michael Kors crochet bag.  I think I may add this to my wish list for Christmas.  Love the leather detail and the drawstring closure.  It even looks big enough to hold all of my stuff.

I guess crochet bags are popular among celebrities too.  xo

Tuesday Theme: African Inspired

African prints are a new trend that is both stunning and unique.  Lately you have seen them worn by celebrities, printed in high fashion magazines, and have grace the runways.  Clearly they are making a statement in the world of fashion and textiles, as these pictures have proved!  Enjoy…xo

Mouthwatering Monday

Happy Monday!

Don’t know if you all noticed, but there has been an increase of hors d'oeuvres and desserts on a stick.  I of course have caught on to the craze…I absolutely love making brownie pops.  Here are some that I made for my cousins baby shower.  They make the perfect party favor.

And here are others that I made for my daughters birthday party and my girlfriends shower.

I recently came across these cookies on occasional cookies blog.  They look so yummy and the color combinations are endless…I love it.  I will definitely be trying this recipe…maybe for my son’s upcoming birthday party.  I will post pics soon.  xo

Happy Friday!  So today is my Anniversary...yeah!!!  I still can't believe that it's been 5 years.  I'm not going to lie...the road has not always been easy, but we hung in there through it all.

Not sure if you all know, but the traditional gift for a 5th wedding anniversary is wood so enjoy my wood finds for the day.

Have a great weekend! xo

Two in one....

Good morning,

Just thought I share with you how recently I was able to use two of my obsessions at once: crocheting and planning a party.  My girlfriend of 22 years just recently had a beautiful baby girl and of course I planned her shower.  I couldn't find exactly what I wanted for favors; I needed something that was inexpensive and not cheesy, so I decided to give out chocolate kisses...her favorite.

No more procrasinating...

Yeah...after months of deciding if I wanted to create a blog I finally stopped thinking about it and just did it.  Thank you for stopping by.  This blog will be about all my obsessions.  I have a lot, but just to name a few...crocheting, cooking, natural hair, parties, oh and I can't forget my girl "B" (congratulations on the pregnancy).
Anyway I hope you enjoy.  It's going to be a great journey~
