Mouthwatering Monday

Hi Ya'll...Hope you all had a great weekend.  Mine was very busy...between my daughter's dance, baby showers, and jewelry parties I had a fun filled weekend.  I planned on relaxing on Sunday until my husband decided to invited two of his friends over to watch the Superbowl.  What does that mean for me?  Appetizers!  My husband and his friends munched on turkey chili, potato skins, chicken wings, and deviled eggs.  How did I decide on what to make?  Whatever ingredients that was in my freezer and pantry....xo

No Sew Days

When I was in high school I was making quilts left and right. I was even the president of the textiles club my junior year.  A couple of months ago my sister-n-law told me about these quilts that her co-worker makes for her grand kids.  They are called No Sew Fleece quilts.  I was so use to using a machine or cutting strips for my quilts that when I saw the pattern I just knew I wanted to try it.

Here is a picture of one I made for my sister-n-laws birthday last week.  I have to say it came out cute. We both adore the color pink.  This will be the newest edition to her "lady cave."  xo

Check out the link here for the pattern: No Sew Fleece Quilt

Note: The pattern states to tie the ends in two pieces like you are tying your show laces, but I tied mine in one loop.  I think it gave it a nicer finish.  Check out the differences between my pillow and the blanket.  The pillow is tied the way it states in the pattern, but the blanket is tied in one loop.

Favors and Gifts Galore

My sister-n-law gave me a whole box of goodies for my birthday.  She's been trying to get me to add scrapbooking to my craft list, so she bought me a bunch of scrapbooking stuff to get me started.  Also in the box was Make in Minutes: Party Favors and Hostess Gifts which I absolutely LOVE.  This is the perfect go to book to get ideas for those personalized handmade gifts.  Can't wait to try one of them.  I will definitely share when I do.  xo

Mouthwatering Monday

Happy Monday ya'll.  I'm so excited to share details and pics of my Italian theme birthday dinner from the weekend.  I was getting nervous when I saw the snow coming down Saturday afternoon, but it eventually stopped and everyone came out and had a great time.

So my plan was to have an Italian theme dinner because I love almost anything Italian.  The whole party was based off the Italian flag.  I served lasagna, chicken parm, shrimp fettuncini, salad and garlic bread.  I also made homemade spinach spanakopita and stuffed murshrooms for appetizers.  Oh and I can't forget the wine...there was plenty of that going around.  My fav were the little favors that I gave out to the guest.  They were pillow boxes that I made out of a toilet tissue rolls (yes I have been saving the rolls for a couple of weeks) and they were filled with Italian candies.

Decor: Star Styles (along with her assistants Starria & Leona)
Cake: Elm Street Bakery (Strawberry cake w/ whip cream frosting....Mmmm yum)
Entertainment: My family and friends :)

Soccer Brownie Pops

Just thought I share with you some brownie pops that I made for my nephew's birthday party.  His mom said black and white with a pop of red since he was having a soccer party.  So you know me...I had to try to figure out a way to make a soccer ball.  I googled and did some research only to find out that it was harder than I thought.  So I bought some cookie frosting in a tube that harden after a couple of minutes and attempted to draw the lines on by hand.  After drawing four balls the rest had to have sprinkles.  My hands were too tired to draw any more.  Here are the results.  xo

Tuesday Theme: Venice Inspired

Hi ya'll.  My brithday is this Saturday and I have been busy planning my Italian theme dinner party.  I love anything with pasta so I figure it would only be perfect to serve Italian food.  I am decorating my house based on the colors from the Italian flag....green, white & red.  This inspiration board from Camille Styles goes right along with my theme.  Can't wait to show you all pictures next week.  xo

Rainbow birthday party

Hey ya'll...I'm working on some invites for a friend.  What do you think?

I have to figure out how I want to decorate the dessert table.  She really doesn't have a theme, just lots of different colors, so I'm thinking a colorful rainbow party.  Check out my inspiration board.

Tuesday Theme: Winter White

Bostonians woke up this morning to a sheet of ice and snow…can you believe it’s our first for the season.  I know some people don’t like the snowy weather, but I do and if it snows badly enough maybe it means a day off from work.  Today’s theme is all about winter white…enjoy.  xo

It's Raining Cards

source
Now that the holidays are over you probably have over a dozen of holiday cards around that you will most likely store in the closet and hang again next year.  How about getting a little crafty and turning your cards into something useful.  You can make coasters by cutting out your favorite part of the picture in a circle, attaching it to self adhesive paper, and then covering the top with clear Mac Tak.  For those who scrapbook, you can cut out small pictures or words to use on your scrapbooking pages.  If you received tons of family or kid portraits it would be a good idea to turn them into photo ornaments and send to the family the following you.  You can check out the following link for directions: about.com  xo

Tuesday Theme: Lemon & Tangerine

Happy New Year, ya'll!  Star Styles is back after a well deserved vacation.  A new year always prompts people to make a fresh start, declutter their home, or reevaluate their life.  When I think of fresh and clean the smell of lemons and oranges comes to mind.  Today's theme is all about the bright color of lemon yellow and tangy orange.
